12 Days of Christmas

I received this is an email from my mother-in-law and thought I would share it, since it's almost that time!

"Who Gets 12 Days for Christmas?"

Really now. “Who gets 12 days for Christmas?” was the question I was asking everybody this year. Everyone knows the song but who are these people who get a 12 day Christmas? I want a 12 day Christmas! Something isn’t right. I felt like the whole 12 day deal was a scam to make those of us who get one day—or a day and a half if you factor in Christmas Eve—feel slighted. I concluded there was nothing to this song.

I was wrong. Come to find out there is more to the song than I knew.

From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were not permitted to practice their faith openly. Someone during that era wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics. It has two levels of meaning: the surface meaning plus a hidden meaning known only to members of their church. Each element in the carol has a code word for a religious reality, which the children could remember.

1. The partridge in a pear tree was Jesus Christ.
2. Two turtle doves were the Old and New Testaments.
3. Three French hens stood for faith, hope and love.
4. The four calling birds were the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John.
5. The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of the Old Testament.
6. The six geese a-laying stood for the six days of creation.
7. Seven swans a-swimming represented the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit--prophesy, serving, teaching, exhortation, contribution, leadership, and mercy.
8. The eight maids a-milking were the eight beatitudes.
9. Nine ladies dancing were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit--Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self Control.
10. The ten lords a-leaping were the Ten Commandments.
11. The eleven pipers piping stood for the eleven faithful disciples.
12. The twelve drummers drumming symbolized the twelve points of belief in the Apostles' Creed.

Pretty cool, huh?

I am taking Calleigh to the Urgent care today. I called her doctor and he told me that he was delivering a baby and did not have time to get her in, but he wanted me to take her before the weekend and the holidays! She is just coughing all of the time and has a pretty bad cold. I called him on Monday and he told me some medicines to try, but they are not getting the job done! So, we are off to Urgent Care.

Today is my last day to work until January 5, and I am very excited to have time off, even though my weeks are busy!

On 12-22, I have to go get fitted for my dress for Katie's wedding, on 12-23 I have to go to the doctor, on 12-24 we go to Andrew's mom's at 3 and then to my parents at 6, then to our house for a new Christmas tradition. We have a little article called "The Meaning of Christmas" we are going to read to Calleigh before bed. On 12-25, we will get up, sing Happy Birthday to Jesus and open present at our house, then we are off to Andrew's dad's house for lunch and to the Wibbeler family Christmas at 5 for dinner, followed by my Grandma Hays' at 7. The 26th we are leaving at noon(or earlier) so we can get checked into out hotel, pick up Andrew's tux and go to rehearsal dinner. The next day (27th) is Andrew's sister, Katie's wedding. We will be busy all day with that. On the 28th we are coming home! Yeah!
(I hope to post some interesting stories and pictures from the 2 weeks I have off when I get back!)

So, as you can see we have a busy holiday ahead! I hope that God blesses each one of you over this busy holiday season! Remember, Jesus is the reason! God Bless!

Christmas Presents and others stuff!

Today at work we had a office party and presents were shared. I bought a candle and picture for Kasey, and Lauren got my small pink bible! It was an answer to a prayer! I have always wanted to have a bible on me so that I can pull it out when need be! I have a busy weekend ahead, with basketball games and others happening, but all of my presents are wrapped, my house is all decorated, and I am ready for the holiday season! I have been listening to holiday music and having a good time. My blog redesign has begun and I am very excited that it is going to look great! Not much more to write today, but I am sure I will have many things from this weekend!

17 days of freedom for my sister-in-law!

My sister-in-law is getting married in 17 days. Only 17 days of freedom before she is Mrs. Jonathan Gore! I am getting my dress fitted tonight with Andrew and we are picking up the Christmas cards I ordered. Andrew's Aunt Beth is watching Calleigh for the night and then his grandparents are keeping her for the day tomorrow! I am looking forward to spending some time with Andrew tonight, just the two of us! Below is a pic of the dress.....

I doubt that when I put it on it will look that good, but oh well! I lost 1 pound today at the Biggest Loser weigh in! I have been losing weight, it is just taking some time. I have lost 13 pounds since the beginning, which was 6 weeks ago. I hope that over break I can exercise a little and lose a little bit more before the wedding!

I have been checking the place where I signed up to have my blog made over and my name is 2nd on the list! It is getting closer. I do have Christmas break from December 19-January 5, so maybe when I come back I will have a new look for the new year!

I have gotten a lot of work done today, getting things accomplished always makes me feel better, not like my day has been a waste!

Well, I do have some more things to get done today, so I need to get back to work! I'll post pics of me in the dress tomorrow and you can decide if I measure up to the model(haha!)

Christmas Time and another tooth

Christmas time is one of my favorite times of year. I love the reason for Christmas, I love the holiday music, the lights, the decorations, and all that goes with Christmas. Yesterday our church had a community dinner and Santa came to see all of the kids. Calleigh did so good, she freaked out a little when I handed her to him and stepped away to take a picture, but then she was ok.

On Friday night, we had our friends over and we had some really good finger foods. I made a fruit salad, some hot and spicy dip with tortilla chips, and some cookies. Andrea brought meatballs and brownies and Brynn brought chili soup. It was really neat to see all of the kids together playing was really neat; who would have thought that we would have all been together with our kids? It's unbelievable to say the least. We do not buy presents, but we do switch ornaments. Andrea got a snowman and a Santa for me and Brynn bought me a Santa ornament. We had a lot of fun!

On Saturday, I had a party at my boss' house. We had a lot of fun there. We stayed home on Saturday night, which is not something that happens often. It was nice to get to be together with our family for a while.

We hopefully do not have many plans this week. I do have to go to get my dress fitted for Katie's wedding and pick up our Christmas cards on Wednesday. On Thursday Andrew's grandparents are watching Calleigh and I am sure that means we will be heading that we on Thursday night!

Calleigh also has her 2nd tooth! I found it on Saturday morning. This is just another milestone in her getting too big too fast!

Thanksgiving, the last Bridal Shower and Lots of Love

I had to work on Monday and Tuesday last week but I had the rest of the week off. On Wednesday I went shopping at WalMart and got some groceries for my Thanksgiving cake and for the sweet potatoes(which turned out well, by the way!) After I got home, we went to hang out with Andrew's sister Katie and her soon-to-be husband Jon. Calleigh had a good time playing with them and Jon's IPhone! On Thursday, we got up and went to my mom and dad's house for lunch. I fixed sweet potatoes and butterfinger cake. We hung out there and then we went to Andrew's Aunt Beth's house for the Wibbeler Thanksgiving. It was fun. Calleigh stayed all night with my parents so that I could go to WalMart the next morning.

I got up bright and early at 3:45, got dressed and I was off to WalMart. I do not shop on the day after Thanksgiving because I do not want to fight people for gifts. That just makes the holiday not fun and I do not go. But, my parents wanted to get Calleigh a portable DVD player and case, so I went to WalMart. It was total madness to say that least. No one got hurt and people were generally nice, but every now and then you run into a person and who was not nice. On Friday evening, we went and spent time with Andrew's family from North Carolina. On Saturday morning, we went to Georgetown for Katie's bridal shower(the last one!) and then we came home and started to decorate for Christmas. On Sunday we went to church and then hung out with Andrew's brother Kevin and his girlfriend Nancy. She is really nice and we like her a lot.
Here they are:

Last night Andrew and his step-dad Greg went hunting together and Andrew killed another doe; that makes 3 for this year. Here are a few pics of daddy and his girl with the deer:

We have a busy week ahead, with parties and cooking and so much to do. I am glad that most of my shopping is done, now all I have to do is wrap it all! Take care, it's time to go home! I'll write more tomorrow with more pics!

Love to all,
